Government Securities Central Depos

The Government Securities Central Depository Law, which was commissioned by the Central Bank of Egypt in collaboration with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) since 2018 and passed into law no 143 of 2020 . Thebes Consultancy in cooperation with international consultancies undertook the Egyptian law baseline research, analysis of various modalities, review of comparative experiences and discussion with various national stakeholders. In collaboration with the Central Bank of Egypt’s legal advisors, experts from the Egyptian Stock Exchange, and the Egyptian Financial Regulatory Authority the law was finalized and issued as law no 143 of 2020, this is the law which will lead to the constitution of a new central depositary company in charge of government securities.
